GRANT APPLICATION The Christabel Burniston Fund is in memory of the English Speaking Board's Founder Christabel Burniston MBE. The Fund is established to offer financial support for access to the English Speaking Board examinations, and every application is taken on its merits.
The English Speaking Board as a charitable organisation has a mission to promote clear, effective oral communication at all levels by providing high quality assessments, training and services in the UK and overseas, recognising and encouraging the potential of all. Whilst we regularly review all fees and charges to keep them low enough not to deter or limit access to assessments, we are keen to promote access to the assessments for those who may find funding difficult. To that end, we have established an Access Fund in memory of Christabel Burniston MBE.
The Fund may be used to mitigate the centre registration fee as deemed appropriate, where a school or centre has significant numbers of pupils who are eligible for free school meals. The fund may also be utilised to reduce fees for individual candidates who are eligible for free school meals, or in receipt of Income Support or Income Based Job Seekers Allowance.
Applications will be assessed and judged on the basis of the information provided on the Grant Application Form.
Applications are presented to the Christabel Burniston Fund Board for consideration. Each one is assessed individually and a decision reached at the meeting. If your application is successful the Board will notify you within four weeks from the date of their decision.
If your application is rejected the Board’s decision is final and no appeals process is available.
All applications must be submitted on the Grant Application Form (download right or available on request from ESB) and submitted to the Christabel Burniston Fund, The English Speaking Board (International) Ltd, 9 Hattersley Court, Burscough Road, Ormskirk L39 2AY.
