ESB works with Ofqual guidance to reduce the possibility of identity fraud by its adult candidates. To be assured of their identities, there is a two-step process (not applicable for children in full-time education):
1. Identity Declaration. All centres are required to sign a declaration when they register adult (over-18) candidates for ESB assessment, that the centre has checked two forms of ID for each person as an official proof of identity.
ONE of these must be photo ID as follows:
a. Passport or other photo ID issued by a Government agency or local authority
b. Photo driving licence
c. Armed Forces photo ID card
PLUS an official document or letter with the candidate’s name and address as registered with the centre.
2. Photo ID must also be shown to the ESB assessor by each candidate on the day of the assessment. Acceptable ID for this purpose is any of the above photo ID, or, for Further Education College or Adult Learning Centres only, college photo ID. Students without such ID will not be prevented from taking the assessment but will not be certificated.
